I once met a Kiwi riding a WLA Harley Davidson across Java. He was going to take it to his Port Hedland workshop and restore it.
Meanwhile, he was struggling to ride it across Java. Without access to spare parts, Indonesian mechanics make do. In the case of this particular bike, the clutch plates had been replaced by cardboard and all the wiring had been replaced by blue household wiring.
The Kiwi was confident he could restore it over a number of years.
