A lot of these old bikes and cars (particularly British)for that matter were hidden during the japanese occupation, then brought 0ut again after for a short while before parts became unavailable then discarded. At about the same time, late '50s, the japanese flooded the world with cheap to run, reliable scooters, so these become dinosaurs. This applies to any ex colonial nation, be it british or dutch. A few years ago a friend bought a 1938 Manx Norton (very rare - only a handful left in the world. He found it in a chook shed in the middle of Malaysia. It had been there since 1940 - you can imagine how much crap it was covered in. Just have to look and ask...
