Our seats were allocated to and from Gold Coast. But flying from KL to somewhere else they are not. But for a small sum( think it was $3) you can ask for express boarding, they put something on your boarding pass then when the flight is ready they call express boarding passengers you are then allowed to go ahead of all the other passengers to get your seat.We got front row both times.
We found Air Asia okay. the staff were nice, and they came around 3 times with the food trolley going over, but if you asked for anything in between they happily obliged. Coming home they only came around twice, but it was a night flight.
Have booked with them to go to Vietnam next April.
