We had planned to spend an morning at Bali Buggy and Quad bike hire.
To make the day a fun outing it was decided by majority vote (19 of us
) to all purchase 'TOUGHEN UP PRINCESS' t-shirts. We bargained hard and purchased all the shirts from 1 stall we could not wipe the smile from her face after selling 19 shirts (18 black and 1 white) always someone who has to go their own way... well done son. It was an early morning pick up at 7.15 am, no time for breckie so the previous night we stocked up on packets of bickies and drinks. These we consumed as we headed of into the hills - again another new experience for the first timers seeing all the rice fields and scenery away from the shops.

We assembled at the buggy and quad bike premises were we signed our lives away, all care but no responsibility - same ole same ole. Not a problems we preferred to stay alive anyway - especially as we had already paid for the rooms for another week..

Wonderful safety message and instruction completed we donned our helmets - more like a rafting helmet that a motorbike one. Machines were assigned (you can drive from 16) no licence or age verification was required... around the test track twice to get the feel of the machines before we left. As they only had 5 x 2seater buggies that left 9 of us to double up on quads, I took a quad on my own as I had never ridden one and thus it was agreed that should I crash no one wanted their kids with me....Friends eh.

A great trip through villages and back paths to the halfway point where we were served Black Bali coffee or Black Tea, yes there was a toilet but you only went if you had too. So if you go take some water bottles / your camera & sunglasses to keep the dust out. Unfortunately my wife's buggy threw a gear and my daughter had to come on the back with dad, whilst the wife was whisked off on the back of a motor bike to meet us later. I was hopping she had not been sold or married off, but she then magically appeared on a quad bike of her own. Now I had ridden a bike back in my earlier days but again only off road buy my wife had never and was not quite sure on how to change gear, Toy tried not to get behind her bike as it spewed forth oil and fumes from being in the wrong gear...

The ride over we were given a wonderful meal by our hosts and an uneventful trip back to our hotel, little did we realize how dirty we all were. This was a great day out for us and many had their first drive of either a buggy or quad. All up it cost us about 100 for 2 people in a buggy or quad which included transfers both way , the tour and lunch.
