Sorry for the delay... bloody work get's into the way of Bali dreaming. Chipped means that there is an additional micro chip in the console that allows for the console to play copied games. Eg you can purchase games in Bali for 20,000 per game (APPROX $2.50 AUD) from most DVD shops.
Normally Wii consoles purchased from a retailer in OZ will not be "Chipped" but I know that there are several Computer shops who can install the chip for you. I think its about $100- $150. But well worth it when you consider that it's about the price of 2 games in Oz. We came home with about 50 games which we checked before leaving Bali. Had to return about 5 games to a few different stores and all stores were happy exchanged for different. So if you can, get your Wii chipped before you go and if you can fit it in your suitcase take it with you so you can test the games.
