You may have a Telkom post paid account...get a phone that you can connect to laptop or desktop via USB. There is something you put as an SMS in the phone that allows connection...I can't remember it so go to Telkom shop to do it. It is called "Speedy". It was faster than dialup but slower than broadband but works anywhere in Indonesia that has Telkom, I have used it in Belu in NTT. You get billed for the time per month you choose, I pay 200,000 per month for 40 hours but if it runs out you can just start another cycle. Obviously you wouldn't do this if there was an affordable wi fi.
