Stayed there for a week in January. Enjoyed the stay and would go again. To answer your direct questions:
Self contained resort a end of a 0.5?? km road from the main E/W road along south coast. ~5km out of Candidasa. Nice place. Not too big. Nice rooms, Good pool, Restaurant good but pricy compared with candidasa (always the case)
Beach fine. mix of stony and sand. Much better than true candidasa beaches.
Can walk out of hotel garden to beach
From resort ~3 cafes, massage couple of shops.
Snorkling not my thing but seem to recall a hire shop nearby...though I might be confusing with another candi resort.
There are some shops up the side road and on main road but need to go into cd proper for anything heavy. In CD recommend Maya shop, opposite Vincents.
Can always ring restaurant in CD and get a free taxi pickup and return. Resort also offers a shuttle bus ???twice a day. But taxis very cheap. Restaurants recommend Vincents, Bali Bagus...but all Ok.
Nearby water palaces at Tirtangangga and Ujung (I prefer the latter though most think the opposite). Tenganan village worth a visit though pressure to buy expensive weavings. Padang bai worth a trip. Found Besakih temple a let down...
Not a lot for teenagers, but then again when I was there had a lot of contact with a teenage brother & sister who thought it was great.
