I had noticed on previous trips how cheap toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner etc was so this time we took the plunge and purchased 40 items, brand name shampoo(Sunsilk)conditioner(sunsilk)toothpaste (pepsodent).Allup worked out to$1 per item.Next step was postage to Perth, sent the pacel via the 4 day delivery at $10 per kilo. When the pacel arrived I weighed the 40 items and it came to 8 kilo so now my great plan came unstuck as this now worked out to $3 per item, hardly worth the effort, however if I had sent the items by the slow post method(10 weeks delivery) at $3 per kilo then the saving would have been well worth the effort.Thought this imformation would be of use to anyone considering doing the same. While on the subject of weight I never realized how much the luggage type cabin bags weighed until they were weighed before departing Perth on our last trip to Bali allmost 4kg of your 7kg limit is taken up with the weight of the bag so unless carrying anything fragile its better to use the Nike type bags that weigh next to nothing.
