is probably not the best month (mid winter) to visit Aussie Islands, although there may be possibilities off Queensland (Maybe Hamilton??)
Perth is a most convenient city to fly to from DPS, and at the right time of the year (maybe Oct - March) Rottnest Island is only 1 hr on a ferry, and well worth a couple of days of cycling around.
Christmas and Cocos are too far and difficult to get to in my humble opinion.
Pacific Islands are more accessible from the Eastern Seaboard, and I guess that Tonga and Samoa would be a couple for alternate consideration.
