I think as long as your kids can swim and have had experience dealing with the ocean waves and what to do in case of a rip then yeah go for it!I dont think Kuta is any more dangerous than our Aussie beaches,it seems to be inexperience with the ocean that is a cause for concern for many tourists that are not brought up on the coast. I am assuming you are from oz.I wouldn't stop my kids if thats what they wanted to do,but,I would suss out the waves and be sure the lifeguards were aware they are learning when they start going out on their own.
