We headed off with Air Asia X from the Gold Coast to KL on the 14th August. A bit of a bumpy ride - Didn't worry me but I have to say a few people didn't stomach it too well. No complaints about the airline, they even seemed to have a bit more leg room. We were extremely happy after 8 ½ hours to finally arrive and be able to walk around on solid ground.

We were booked into the Capitol in Bukit Bintang. Couldn't ask for a better location. It was a clean, comfortable hotel, perfect for our 3 night stay. You probably wouldn't want to stay too much longer as there is no pool or relaxation area. Great if you want plenty of retail therapy.

Got to say the men have had more than enough retail therapy for the next 10 years. They were really over it.

Chinatown was the highlight for me. Loved the buzz and atmosphere. You could buy almost anything here, and much more fun than the shopping centres. We had a delicious meal at one of the little restaurants and sat out watching all the wheeling and dealing around us. It was a bit of a walk from our hotel but it was the only way to go as the traffic wasn't moving so not worth getting a taxi.

Fish Massage - How freaky. You put your feet in a fish tank and hundreds of little fish eat the dead skin of them. You can't go there and not try it. It's a weird sensation, kind of tickles, but believe it or not your feet come out feeling nice and smooth.

Handbags - One thing for sure, KL was Handbag heaven. How is a girl ever sposed to choose? This is one thing we did buy up on.

After our 3 nights in KL, we were more than ready for Bali. I'm glad we went there and checked it out but I wouldn't be in a hurry to return. We were up early and packed eager to get to the airport for our 3 hr flight to Denpasar.

I'm happy to say this flight didn't drag on. The 3 hrs was over before we knew it and we landed in Bali by about 2pm. So did about 3 other planes - but who cares at least we were there.

Once we got through VOA and all that stuff we collected our luggage and were off to the Suriwathi in Legian. The first thing we noticed was how cool the weather was. This was our 7th trip to Bali and we've never seen it like this. It wasn't cold but there was a cool refreshing breeze. There was no breaking out in a sweat just from wandering out of the air-conditioning. It was a nice change that we weren't expecting. After a week the weather warmed up to what we know and love.

Still to come - Catching up with friends. Suckling Pig in Kerambitan. Girls Retail Therapy Road Trip and Sanur.
