If you head up to check out the old Raja's Palace there are a couple of elephants that were donated from the Sultan of Sumatra. They are in a very basic jungle setting - low key and not very tourist (unlike Bali). The ride basically pays for food for the elephants. You get a ride thru the jungle in a pretty natural setting.Check out Puri Mas Villas just north of Sengiggi at a small beach called Mangsit Beach - a short taxi ride - very nice and quiet beachfront. If you are into diving head over to the Gilies (local islands) and there are incredible surf breaks south around Kuta (Sth Lombok). If you find the local tucker hard going head into the Sheraton at Sengiggi - very hospitable and friendly people everywhere! We go to Lombok every trip to Bali. Enjoy!
