At least people in Brisbane have direct flights from the Gold Coast that they can get.I realise Coolangatta is about an hours drive away from Brisbane but it's surely better than what South Aussies have which is zero flights. It's good that both Northern & Southern Queenslanders have flights now though. It will obviously make it a lot easier to get to Bali for many people.

It's not as if people in Adelaide can drive an hour to Victor Harbor & get a flight or people in the Riverland can drive to Blanchetown & get one either. We have to fly 1/2 way around Australia with the extra time & cost involved if we want to go to Bali. This is in spite of the fact that many travel agents in Adelaide have been saying for a long time that we could easily fill 2 planes a week.

I understand that travellers in Brisbane would be frustrated being left off the map by 1 hour but it's sure a hell of a lot better than South Australia's situation. Our closest option is Melbourne which is about an 8 hour drive away or a domestic flight.

I may be wrong but I think New Zealanders are in the same situation as South Australia & let's not forget the Aussie's from Tasmania also have no direct flights.
It's all about the $ & if the airlines think they can make a bigger profit adding on more direct flights than what they already are from the added costs of passengers being forced to pay extra domestic airfares.Hopefully one day soon the situation will improve.
