I must take the time to explain our group this time.

I went over with my lady, my brother and his lady. Also accompanying us this trip was my sister, her son and a friend of my sisters. Who cares I hear you say? Well you would if you had to sit at a table in a restaurant and see people try and divvy a bill between 5 parties every meal. Now I only had the shrimps, and a fruit juice, you had beers and I didn't, no the sate was cheaper than the nasi goring. I think I owe you 200Rp, can anyone change a 1000Rp note?

Normally when the 4 of us go, we divvy the total bill in half and add a tip, end of story. I cunningly pocket the tip as we leave, no dramas.

Anyway, I was not about to let that spoil my holiday, so I drank quicker than normal, denied that I had more than anyone else as the bills came, and was happily subsidised by the rest of them.

We went to different restaurants all the time, me to spread my hundy around as best I could, also we think its great to try different breeds of dog. But also after we had been to a restaurant and decided to go back they used to meet us at the door and explain that there was no room that night. When we pointed out all the empty tables they said they were reserved, so Bali must be looking up.

Most days would start the same, me ignoring the phone messages from the police department and the fire investigators to contact them about something, and we would all meet for breakfast, order what we wanted and then be served what they thought we had ordered. Generally nothing was planned, however someone would have to do a laundry run, or want to pop up to Bintang or Geneva and others would tag along. God, the excitement of it all when I write this.

By then it would be lunch time and needing a feed as we only eaten a full American Breakfast 2 hours ago we would wander off to scoff some delightful exotic fare, by the time a swim and a bit of a read was undertaken it would be time to wander to S & S, fill up on Binnies and then stagger off for dinner.

I am sure that this is the correct way to enjoy the allure of the country, and even though some would disagree, I think that its close to discovering the real Bali. However to be sure we decided a trip to Ubud was in order. That and the fact that small binnies were getting harder to procure.

It was time to see Gusti.
