The first 2 times i went on boats out of benoa. Did a mix of trolling for tuna etc and then an hour or so of bottom bouncing for reef fish on the way in. Had mixed success. Small tuna and mackerel. The reef fishing isn't great. Most of the fish are small. Cost for the boat was about 1,500,000rp from 7 to about 2. Both times we had 3 in the boat. There are plenty of these to choose from. When you get there ask to check the fishing gear before you pay. If your not happy with gear they will go and borrow more outfits. The last trip in march this year i went and asked one of the dug out boats as they were coming in on kuta beach and ended up going out with in one of them and enjoyed it way more than the previous trips. He fishes for a living to sell fish at the markets so he knows what he's doing. He had 2 great overheads, the boat was great. Not having a cabin meant (but still had shade overhead)there was constant breeze on you so no where near as hot as the other boats i went on. The price was only 600,000rp. I chose to troll only and caught a 4ft spanish mackerel so was wrapped with the experience. If your interested the guys name is wayan celok. The numbers i have for him are 081805576271 and 08123800826 (don't know why one nuber is longer). Or his boat is blue and is called 'lets go to reef' and is parked on kuta beach between the art markets and BGH. Hope this has been helpful.
