I went to a Balinese wedding a few years ago and I gave a pair of towells and they thought they were just great. Other people gave money but they had wished they had bought gifts also as the father of the groom (his home was where the wedding was held)stated that all money received went towards paying for the wedding and not to the couple. Don't know is this is the norm or each family are different.
