in my JBR.
I had a great haircut at Johnny Andrean Hairdresser. Only cost me 38,000 for a cut, shampoo and blowdry. This was at Discovery Mall(?) near BGH.
Also got some bi focal prescription lens replaced in some specs. Changed them to graduating lenses. Cost 700,000RP at Optic Seis near Matahari. Original receipt for frames and lenses in Australia says $450, so you have to be happy with that price eh?
Driver from Ubud to Lovina was Wayan Sukirta Tel 081 337 787066(m). He was an excellent driver also and I have known him for a year or so now. His wife Made works at Ananda Cottages in Ubud(another nice little place to stay) Cost was 450,000RP for a full day for the drive to Lovina.
While in Amed, did some snorkelling at a Jap wreck around from Jemuluk Bay. A tad rough for me, but I saw the wreck and quite a lot of fish. Also saw some beautiful coral and lots of fish of many colours in the bay itself. Also ate at a great little Warung on the main road near our Homestay. Had Cumi Cumi(squid) - very yummy, and some beautiful Garlic Prawns. Very cheap - don't know the name of the place sorry.
Our room at the BGH - I think it was a Standard Room - overlooked the street(no street noise surprisingly) opposite that Sling Shot thingamagig. Aircon was good, room very clean, but in need of renovation. Water ran off the bath onto the floor in the bathroom, but didn't faze me particularly. Brekky was good, didn't get to the pool, but passed it on the way to the beach. Looked ok to me.
Ate beautiful Crab at a Beach Cafe/Restaurant along the North Sanur beach path - Bonsai Cafe - sat there for nearly 1 hour eating/slurping yummy crabs. Very messy, had juice running down my chin and arms lol! Thank goodness for fingerbowls.
Best feed in Bali was in Lovina, at Barclona Restaurant which was on one of the little streets(Singaraja side of the Dolphin Statue) that run down to the beach. Absolutely best feed ever and cheap. Also some nice little bungalows in the compound out back. Ketut the owner showed us around. The villa is absolutely stunning! Cannot remember the cost though. Big enough for a whole family. Not on the beach, but only about 500metres away. No pool. Beautiful! I have details if anyone interested.
Lovina is very quiet. Only met a couple of Aussies staying at Villa Agung. Lots of Dutch, German, French tourists around this area mostly.
Ok, I think thats it. Sorry I forgot these details yesterday. Cheers Cheryl
