This will be my last post in regard to this debate. I don't think either of us has emerged with a great deal of credit! But......
Anybody that knows me will tell you that I am probably one of the most unPC people you could meet, and I have apologised many times when I have believed it to be appropriate not just because it would be PC to do so.
My original post was not a matter of PC but that of good manners.
(Two entirely different aspects of life.)
The first poster could have directed the question posed to either or both of the persons concerned rather than opening a discussion of their private lives on a public forum.
No, I don't consider myself to be an intellectual. I use this term when stating my opinion of someone's mental capacity. It is much more polite to call someone an intellectual cripple rather than a moron. ( There, I am guilty of PC. )
Talking of surprises, your second last sentence did this to me. I deliberately chose the word "pleasure" as that is what I felt when I read your peurile post, it being in answer to my previuos one.
You talk of "hook, line and sinker". I belive both of us have succumbed to the lure.
