we always go in november and love it the weather is usually ok but it can rain the best thing is that when you return home to aussie you arnt cold and prior to going you also get a tan so can fake it to beach sellers ect that you have been in bali for ages.
as for places to stay you better book soon as most are getting to be booked out my fav is pelangi havnt stayed in the places that you mention have stayed in Kartika plaza and Besakhi in sanur. My sister has stayed in the Patra which she said is ok and also in the Jayakarta which she was not impressed with whatever your choice enjoy
