Arrived home yesterday after 2 fantastic weeks in Bali. Two weeks goes so quickly that I am already looking a 3 weeks for August next year.
Flew home with Qantas on the worst flight I have ever endured. Flight to Perth left Denpasar at 1.20 am. There were 4 really drunk guys on the flight. Somehow Renae and I draw the short straw. We ended up with one sitting next to me, another sitting in the seat behind and then the other 2 in two of the seats in the row behind that. The one next to me realised early on that he better behave if he did not want to be dealt with by me. Unfortunately his two mates seated two rows back thought it would be great fun to throw items from their food tray at their mate next to me however had an awful aim and continually hit me. This continued until I buzzed the hostess and handed her all the items to return with a message that if I was hit by one more flying object I would not hesitate to get up and hit them. The other mate behind had the emphasemia (spelling ?)cough all the way home. The one next to me fell asleep and proceed to snore really loudly all the way to Perth.
A young child a couple of rows away clearly had trouble with their ears as they subjected all to a blood curdling scream for the majority of the trip.
We arrived in Perth at 4.55 am and headed across to the domestic terminal. We had just missed the free transit bus by only minutes and after realising the next was not due for an hour decided to get a taxi. Once at the domestic terminal we checked in for our flight to Adelaide and made our way to the Qantas lounge. We had a 5 hour stop over so we had a quick bit to eat and curled up on a couple of chairs to get what ever sleep we could.
The flight to Adelaide was better than the first leg however we endured another screaming child for the majority of the trip too.
I have children myself but found this really hard to listen to with next to no sleep. I felt really sorry for the parents of the children as I could imagine how hard it was for them.
Renae coped better than we both expected with all flights there and back. She has a fear of flying so was very anxious prior to boarding and during take off and landing.
Trying to get unpacked and organised to return to work tomorrow so will post a JBR as soon as I have had a chance to type it up.
Already starting to plan the trip for next August but will be sure that hubby and the kids can return as well. It is great travelling without them but it is also great to share all the experiences with them too.
