Hi we just returned last weekend (still to get to JBR!)with Indo and they were just fine. Well you can always find something to complain about but nothing serious. !!! In the 5 days before I had flown Perth to Syd and Syd to Melb and Melb back to Perth on a variety of craft and so I felt compelled to compare and really couldnt fault Indo to bali. The plane is very small and looked like a toy my kids would play with from the viewing platform at Perth so that gave us a laugh.
Its a 737-200 and seats about 110 (??) seating configuration 3 x 3. Pilot and co-pilot sounded Aussie and hostesses where 1/2 n 1/2. Service far outweighed all my aussie flights and the food and service both in quantity and quality was far and above. They did drinks and pretzels after takeoff and then meal with icecream.
The take offs were fine although both landings were a little wobbly especially Perth with the wind, however having had recently flown in a re-modled DC-3 this year I was a bit up on the mechanisms of how an older plane with out electronic stabilizers flew and felt and all that "flying stuff". Some people looked a little worried especially hearing much more niose from the flaps and wheels than you would on a larger newer aircraft. But watching them just gave me entertainment really !! The crew were very attentive although you have to pay for orange juice n cool drinks($2) and alcohol($7). Nothing to break the bank really and how much do you need to drink on a 3 hr flight?!?!.
No Tv or shows so take a book or chat was all most did. Their huge bonus to me is all daytime reasonable flight hours. I didnt have to get up at at or before dawn to get to airport and arrived at a nice socialble hour in Bali. I think it is great that the 'bigger' airlines have some competition with these guys and airasia etc.
BEWARE - They are VERY STRICT on luggage and most of us in line got slugged even just for 1.5kilos over !!! Wish I had remembered a previous forumite saying to test their scales with a bottle of water but never thought about it until thru. Oh well it is stated on your ticket documents quite clearly !! But my biggest cripe would have to be that the surfers get an extra allowance for surf boards but I couldnt with my bag!! discrimination +++ Didnt let it ruin my hol and would quite happily fly with Indo again.
