Normal keycards do work in Bali, although there is often a fee of around $5 to use them. I took $100 notes with me so I could change them easily and it was simple to work out what I should be getting, by just adding a couple of zero's. You can credit cards in the bigger shops and probably you hotel, but the banks here are very wary of 'scimming' and in my case wanted to cancel my card just becaused I used it in Bali.
