Left Melbourne for our second trip to paradise on 18th July. First stop Besakih Beach Resort in Sanur. This was our first visit to Sanur and we really enjoyed it. We spent 4 nights at the Besakih, renovations are still not completed but they didn't really bother us at all. Staff were lovely.
We visited Denpasar and also went to Discovery Plaza to get our eyes tested and order our glasses.
Restaurants we ate at were The Village and Fortuna (Jimbaran Bay) - We took our driver (Ngurah) and his girlfriend (Ketut) out to dinner as we met him last year and have kept in touch by email since then, so it was great to catch up with him again.
Next stop was the Ubud Village Hotel for 4 nights. Room was huge with outdoor shower which was great. I did a cooking class at Bumu Bali which I really enjoyed. Had some treatments at Venizia Spa which was wonderful, hubby visited the Monkey Forest whilst I was being pampered. Also had a day trip which included visiting the Sukawati Markets then off to the Safari Park which we really enjoyed, then off to Bali Orchid Garden which was really lovely, next stop was the art gallery where Ketut works and we purchased a great piece of art which we now need to get framed. Final stop for the day was a visit to Ngurah's home in a village about 15 minutes out of Ubud. What a fantastic experience that was, meeting all his family and seeing how they live, we felt very honoured to be invited.
Restaurants visited in Ubud: Three Monkeys (went here a couple of times and loved it), Lotus Garden Café, Café Wayan and Casa Luna
Our last 7 nights were spent at Febris in Tuban. We loved this hotel, it is not your resort type of place but it suited us just fine. Rooms were lovely and staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Had a couple of treatments at their spa and the girls and atmosphere was wonderful.
Collected our glasses and were very happy with them, we both had multi focals made for less than half the price we would pay here.
Also visited Geneva Handcrafts, what a huge store. Stocked up on my Revlon make up at Centro and Martha Tillar from Supernova.
Caught up with some of our market friends from last year, lots of walking, shopping, relaxing, etc. Much as we enjoyed Sanur and Ubud, we prefer to spend the majority of our time in Tuban, although might try Legian next year.
Restaurants visited in Tuban were Febris, Green Garden, Bubba Gumps, Celcius (Discovery Plaza), Il Cielo and the Stadium Café.
I don't think we had a bad meal anywhere and still didn't get to all the restaurants we wanted to visit, oh well, there is always next year.
