Tanah Lot monkeys are downright dangerous!!!!. They will try to take/rip anything off you that isn't part of you, sunglasses, hats earrings necklaces etc and then the keeper will tell you he will "try" to get the item back for you (for a small fee!!)I've even been there when a matue aged lady was attacked by one of them when it tried to grab her handbag and she didn't let go.(Yes I know there are warnings at the entrance) but the little monster latched on to her arm with its teeth and wouldn't let go.
Personally I think these animals are trained to do this as another money making scam.
Never had a problem with the monkeys at Ubud.
