We have just got back from a brilliant week in Bali and are already suffering withdrawals symptoms and planning our next holiday!!
My husband and I had our first holiday in 3 and 1/2 years without the children - we felt so guilty leaving our 2 little cherubs (aged 1 and 3 and 1/2 but by our 2nd bintang by the pool, we adjusted pretty quickly!! Here's a quick summary of our holiday!
THE PATRA
We spent a week staying at the Patra Hotel ( closest to the airport) and we were thrilled with our accomodation of a Club Villa. We had a huge King size bed, separate lounge area and the biggest, deepest bath I have ever been in. The service was excellent, but there were a few complaints from other guests about the hotel facilities being run down. Perhaps the only drawback to this hotel, is that you are a long way from the shops. We jumped into taxis all the time (Blue only - as they are metered) but if we went again to Bali with our children, we would probably stay at the Dynasty as it is closer to everything.
RESTAURANTS
We made a point of visiting a different restuarant every night, and our favourite was BREEZ in Seminyak - the setting was incredible, the food amazing and so incredibly well presented. It was expensive - probably what you would pay at a good restaurant back home. Our other faves - TJ's Mexican, Ma Jolly's.
PHOTOS
We found a great place called Fuji in 204 Jalan Legian, Kuta (near the Bali memorial). The prices are fixed and we had some fantastic photos blown up onto canvas for 80 000 rupiah.
BALI BELLY
This has to be the first time In Bali that I have not succumbed to Bali Belly. We took Travelan tablets before every meal and made sure that we carried Aquim Gel so we could wash our hands before we ate.
TATTOOS
My husband has always secretly wanted a tattoo and we were recommended by many other Australians to go to Mr Wayan Tattoo, Benesari St - Poppies 2. They were very professional and did a fnatastic job!!
Here's to our next Bali adventure!
