I have taken a sewing machine over for a balinese friend. She also was thrilled. Yes it works fine with an adaptor. She and also others in the village are just using it to make their own clothes - not for sale. The weight was fine. Hubby took the machine and I took our suitcase - no problem. There are people in Bali who can fix machines if there is a problem with them.
