the tropical cyclone which was off the coast of Western Australia during that time. We had very bad weather here in Australia too in January. Our motorhome trip was a complete wash out all the way back from Airlie Beach to Sydney and Fraser Island was evacuated due to tropical cyclone warnings.
Some friends who were in Bali at the time did mention that it was a lot wetter than normal. It is rain season then, but sometimes can be worse than other. I guess it's the luck of the draw. Hopefully you will just encounter night time and late afternoon or very early morning showers, which at times in moderation can be a relief.
We are thinking about spending a month or so in Bali next December /January and the rains certainly not going to stop me from going :)
