A large bintang from my local shop is 15.000rp.

Nasi Goreng Ayam from local warungs is 6.000rp - 9.000rp. Another local warung where I also go regularly and get a meal deal with Nasi Goreng Chicken and a bag of sprouts/vegies and a drink cost 20.000rp. I have another favourite Javanese food warung (which is a treat for locals) and I can feed 8 people for about 60-70.000rp and includes all selections of their foods. I am not referring to up-market warungs which are located on the tourist strips. I mainly eat at Warungs for lunch and then for dinner go to a nice/pricey restaurant.

Obviously if your purchasing Bintangs at restaurants or hotels then you will be paying taxes and service charges and when your enjoying your holiday you don't mind the extra cost and service that goes with it.

You can get by very cheaply with food if you know where to go or you have a friend who can point you in the right direction
