Heard of many tourists having shoulder bags lifted by a rider on a passing motor bike so if you take a shoulder bag, wear it diagonally across your body keeping the purse part in front on the shop side and not the road side. Find a bag that will allow you to be hands free but still keep the important part where you can see it. Out of sight out of mind sometimes, especially when you're distracted by shopping!
