I was in the same spot about 4 years ago walking back to our villa with friends and family when a girl jumped off the back of a motor bike snuggled up to me with a serious groin massage, I heard the velcro tab on my pocket zip open and without thinking I elbowed her in the side of the head, the street has high gutters and she stumbled into a back roll onto the street and quick as a flash was back on the bike and off. The same year a guy on a bike attempted to grab a womens bag fom her shoulder on the bamboo rest. corner, Ricky who was working there before starting his own rest, lunged at the thief and got him on the ground, the kaos caused 2 security guards from Melasti Resort to come down and give him a work over in the vacant land opposite (before the gate) which resulted in a dagger in his throat and instant death, and no drama to the security guards from the police when they picked up the body. Padma left their tennis court lights on late after this obvoiusly to deter the seedy element. This is true and please dont get me wrong I love Bali after 40+ trips and Im looking forward to my next trip in a month, it can happen in any country any time, just be aware wherever you go, especially in Australia - bit hard watching the news here lately
