Do not stay at the Kuta Paradiso.
Two reasons. Whilst the reception/lobby is impressive, it disguises rooms that are severely run down and in desperate need of a complete makeover. The maintenance of facilities is non existent. In the room we stayed in the porcelain top of the toilet was cracked in half, shower did not drain, flooding the bathroom, toilet did not flush and phone just fell off the wall. This is not to mention the run down nature of the room itself. But this is only half the story.
We were charged 650k rupiah because we were held responsible for the cracked cistern top, which as I said was cracked before we got there. This is a scam which the room service staff and the Asst Front Office Manager, 1Wayan Tinngal are in on. If you don't pay, they threaten to get the police. It is never repaired so the next unsuspecting guest is also charged for it. As soon as the cleaning staff come to maintain the room, they go straight to the toilet and the fun begins.
Stay away from this place unless you want to be ripped off or end up in jail.
