I thought it was about time someone wrote a Just Going to Bali (JGB) report. You know, like an appetiser just to get the travel juices flowing in preparation for the main course and dessert.
We have the tickets, the passports and the bags are packed and ready to go. The transport to the airport is also in hand and once we make it through the smoke haze of the last minute nic-o-tine junkies, passport stampers and suitcase prodders we will be on our way.
Now close your eyes, no peeking, tilt your head back about 15 degrees to project the old odor detector into the air, so that, that quality of substance that a few years ago used to bring tears to your eyes, can be faintly detected. Yes, Bali wins it by a nose. Unfortunately all of the newbees haven't got the faintest idea of what many of you old hands know, love and miss about Bali.
Now open your eyes and look where you are b___dy going or you'll get run over by General Nasi Goring in his Kajang.
Ah Bali, can't wait until Wednesday morning when you want a bemo, you want transport, what's your name, where do you come from rings in my ears again.
Don't forget the treat to the eyes as well, when you peer throught the Bintang haze as those in front of you come into view doing the Bintang Waltz, tripping the light fanbloodytastic back to their lodgings for the evening where they will soon be imitate chainsaws in a bid to keep the evil spirits at bay.
