our son 14yrs old contracted typhoid last year on a trip to Bali, was in hospital when returned to Aus for 8 days and lost just over 8 kilos.Although we can't prove it we reckon he picked it up from surfing, especially as he was out every day for hours and hours, and one day before we could get him out of surf he was AMONGST the big brown slick! Drs said probably was how he picked it up although this usually comes from eating unwashed food or food washed in dirty water. We stay in a top hotel and always careful where we eat and drink, and carry anti-bacterial wipes/wash with us and use it beofre eating, and after handling money. He has now had needles for Typhiod, Hep A/B, and a few others. We didnt worry, but i dont blame you for getting your kids done. We ALL love Bali, and even our son cannot wait to get back there again this year, it certainly hasn't put him off, of either Bali or surfing which is his one love and passion. We'll just be on the look out for the Big Brown Slick this time,so if you see a Mum and Dad on the beach waving arms, shouting, maybe screaming at a son to get out NOW, you've geussed it, it'll be us! ENJOY. x
