Left Melbourne for Bali Sunday 17th August, 2008. Due to turbulent weather arrived 30 mins late in Bali, had a two hour wait through immigration. Next time will book for VIP VOA. We arrived at Kuta Seaview Cottages to find that our 3 confirmed seaview rooms were only one. Friends were put in a crappy room, daughter and cousin were upgraded to deluxe so they were very happy not to have to climb three flights of stairs and decided to stay put. Friends were moved next morning after alot of complaining to management. Had dinner that night at the hotel, the service was very slow, staff were not that friendly and food was crap. That was the one and only time we ate there. Mini bar in the rooms were not stocked daily had to remind reception several times. It was nice being close to the beach, but it was very noisy at night all we could hear was the thump thump of the music. Breakfast was good with a great selection. We ate at Nero on Legian street many times the food was yummy and the staff really nice and friendly, we ate at the Bali Beach Shak several times again the food was good and staff really friendly. Other places were poppies, Adi Dharma Hotel and Cottages. The only place we ate that didn't come up to scratch was the Kopi Pot the services was slow and the staff not very friendly and the food wasn't that good. We went to the Safari Park and had photo's taken with the baby animals, which was really great. We had a try at fly fishing and parasailing, which was a thrill. My daughter, a friend and I had boots and shoes made at Dolphins leather in Garlic Lane and was really wrapped with the results. We did lots of shopping and had to send some home via express mail as all could not fit in the suit case and would have cost a fortune in excess luggage. I had botox and a couple of lumps removed from my face and was very pleased with the results and the price. The weather was great and the rate for AUD to IDR was between 7600 and 7800. Hope to be planning another trip again this time next year.
