That sounds like a fantastic day, to see the look on childrens' faces when they see someone new is priceless. I totally understand your leaving the teddy bears to give out the next time you go back, as I said above, the look on the childrens' faces will be priceless and they will remember that exciting experience for such a long time, I would want to be part of it too.
