Had a great two weeks at Beach Melati Apartments - had we known about this little gem in the past, wouldn't have stayed anywhere else - it was sheer perfection - cannot find one single fault with this place - we all agreed this was "the best". We did all the usual things - eat, drink, swim and relax - perfect - I was soo happy that I hadnt gotten sick this year - we were all congratulating me on my health (always get something) - then bang - the day before we were leaving we went for a morning walk up to Jl Padma to get some last minuter stuff - were at the Kodak shop changing money - on leaving slipped on one of those bright and shiny white tiles and fell and bvroke my arm in several places - put my arm down to stop my head hitting a bike. What a horror - however the Balinese were just fantastic 0 one guy thought he might be able to massage the bone back into place - OOOUUUCCCHHH!!! Went straight back to Melati Apartments in a cab - arm looked like an S bend by this stage - but I have to tell you absolutely every one from the Manager to the kitchen and cleaning staff were just fabulous - they had ice on it and a taxi out front before you could blink - the Manager of the apartments Jinae - a delightful young lady - came to Prima Medica Hospital with us (she speaks the lingo) which was a huge help - I was terrified - another country, dont speak the language and broken bones which needed surgery - but Having Jinae with us made all the difference - the hospital were marv ellous - I was in the theatre within a couple of hours having the dislocation realigned and back at Melati that night - again the entire staff looked after me like angels - amazing really - they really go the extra mile wiht th a continual smile on their faces - again Jinae took me back to the hospital very late that night to get the cast split (it had swollen up and the cast was too tight) - do you know she even got up to a pharmacy and got me some medication for the pain which I dont mind telling you was horrendous - were flying out the next day and the the staff at Melati packed my bags for me, got absolutely everything organised for us - I nad my daughter and two friends with me but nonetheless we couldnt have done it without the help of Jinae and her staff - cant praise them enough.
Anyway - all good now - had the surgery and had pins and plates put in on the day we returned to Sydney and am recovering well - could have been much worse - could have had a head injury or broken hip etc - so in the scheme of things a broken arm is not too tragic - it will heal and I'll be much more careflu next year on thos slippery white tiles!! APologise for the terrible spelling - it wasmy right hand of course!!
Until nexy year - cheers
