The news of this price rise broke over a week ago on here (see below), and all Travel Agents were informed of this via a bulletin that was emailed to them by Garuda last Wednesday (21/05/08) so your TA is a bit slow telling you about it.
Luckily for you it doesn't come into effect until the 1st of June so you only have until this Saturday to pay for your ticket in full before the rise is added to any unpaid tickets. Probably not such a big deal for a single or couple but it is worth doing for say a large family or a group booking with 10 plus tickets involved.
The rise is the result of a fuel levy increase from the current US$100 per sector to US$116 per sector to offset rises in fuel prices. This will add US$32 (about A$35) to a Melb or Syd return ticket Your ticket price will remain the same it's the "taxes and surcharges" part of the ticket that is going up. Perth return goes up by US$16 and Darwin goes up by US$20 for a return ticket.
