We started this walk on Jln Raya from the entrance to the Ibah Hotel, which is on the righthand side, heading down towards the Tjampuham Bridge. Just before you enter the driveway into the Ibah, on your left is a small white sandstone sign which says 'hill walk' (or something like that). There is quite a steep path heading downhill past a school (the children ride their motorbikes down here!) and then over the river, past temple grounds and then up the otherside. It is a well trodden track and you can look over the valley to Indus Restaurant etc on your left and valley and rice paddies on your right. The track eventually turns into a gravel road, where a new hotel is being built (up to that point it only takes about 20 mins). If you keep walking you can take a turn to the left and you'll eventually come back to Jln Sanggingan. You can always pick up transport if you don't want to walk any more.
The rice paddy walk we took, you also enter off Jln Raya, (before Ibah) just at the end of the shops before heading down towards the Tjampuham Bridge (next to Abangan Bungalows). There is also a sign to Sari Organic (a small restaurant about 20 mins into the walk). We walked at a reasonable pace through the rice paddies which took about an hour, then turned right onto the road and walked through the villages. This brings you back into Ubud past Waka de Ume etc on Jln Suweta - all in all this is a good 2 to 3 hour walk. Although once again when you get to the road, cars stop and ask if you want transport. Or you can just walk to the Sari Organic restaurant and return.
No great level of fitness is required, you can just walk at your own pace and stop to take in the views along the way. Hope this helps.
