it's like comparing chalk & cheese, really. The Aston is a faded gem with lovely staff, but it's been a while since it's prime & it's in need of renovation/updating. The food there is great and they make a great cocktail at the pool bar. The pool is nice & big and the location on the beach is very nice. It is within walking distance of many restaurants. The Novotel is larger, less personal and very new. It's modern & decorated beautifully, the room service menu is surprisingly inexpensive, and it has all new facilities (great gym - so my hubby tells me!). The pool is gorgeous. It is also in walking distance of many restaurants, but also any of the Tanjung Benoa restaurants with pick you up & drop you back for free, anyway. As it's in Nusa Dua, it's n0ot a 'villagy' area like TB, it's more pristine, 5*.... and a tad boring. BUT I would choose the Novotel over the Aston any day as I love new, modern, clean, luxurious hotels. Don't know if this will help you, as we all want something different from a hotel. Good luck.
