I am an American Forumite...I have been to Bali 3 times over the past 5 years...
There are a few ways from LAX...
The easiest would to take a flight to Asia on Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, China Air or ????
Singapore Air would require 1 stop and a lay over in Singapore...Continental flies there via Hawaii and Guam 2 or 3 times a week...
Or fly down to Sydney on QANTAS and fly up with you...travel time is all about 17 - 20 hours total!
My suggestion is looking at www.sayangholidays.com or asianaffairs.com for package deals from the USA.
