Pathumwan Princess is the place to stay, part of th MBK (best shopping mall where you can barter or get fixed price for almost anything). But if you want software/dvd go to Fortune Town.
Forget about the traffic, use Skytrain and Underground.
2 very good sites to visit - google "bangkok bob" and "stickman".
BKK is great, but to relax and space out we are leaving marchydoore for dps 4 June staying at the Santika for 2 weeks.
