is standard for wedding cakes in Indonesia. Usually people have 5 or 6 tiers of the cake and its all fake. Just for show. Most people are aware that its fake. However have heard stories where people have tried to cut the cake, without knowing its fake and pulled it off the table!!!!
When we got married in Jakarta, back in March, our cake was 3 tiers, however, we asked for the lowest to be "real" even then its only the outside 10cm thats' real and the rest is foam. The upper layers are usually just covered with the icing and thats it.
Our cake cost 2 million, others have wasted at least 10 million on cakes and they arent even real!!! Our cake was soooo yummy and got it placed into 10 boxes so some guests could take it home.. so we thought it was a good price.
The cake shop should have warned you beforehand.
