They're basically similar in size to the superior rooms that are beside the newer donut shaped pool. Bathrooms are slightly smaller, but not much in it. But the rooms are much darker because they don't have the same sized windows and don't have a balcony to open up. There are plenty of communal sitting areas and balconies along the sides that you can use, but no direct access from your room, so you'd need to lock your room up and go out to use them.
I had no real issues with road noise, but I wasn't right above the road - I was opposite side of the hallway. Dogs barking and roosters crowing from across the road were louder than road noise for me. I can't comment on noise from the bar as it was being built while I stayed there last. I watched it being put together from the balcony above the road into the hotel. Not a bad spot to sit with a book and cold drink, to be honest.
I did find it was a L-O-N-G walk down to breakfast, each morning, and if you wanted to go back and forth to your room a few times a day the walk got a bit annoying. But that can happen at any bigger hotel.
I'd suggest Puri Raja if you can get rooms there, but I think they're pretty full too for that time of year.
