My husband and I flew with Air Asia from GC to KL (stayed 2 nights in KL) then down to Bali in April with 2 teenagers. This was great.
Definately the cheapest but takes a lot longer(obviously). On the way back we flew direct to Sydney/Gold Coast from Bali with Jetstar which was a good choice and cheap as well. Air Asia is definately the cheapest but be prepared for a much longer flying and waiting time than flying Gold Coast/Sydney/Bali. A FEW TIPS...take a portable dvd player for the kids and pay the extra(about $8)and get express boarding when you fly to Bali from KL.
