My 12 year old is the same. We dont need citronella while she is near, she is a walking mossie bait. We were in Tuban in August and i too was worried about the mossies as she reacts to the bites, resulting in large welts. She got a couple of bites while at Poppies one night but that is all. We had an enclosed bathroom which i would assume helped, with screens on the windows. I read last year to spray the drain holes (in your room that is) in the evening as they tend to come up through the openings in the bathroom floors. I would go prepared but not stress too much over it. I guess it depends on what time of year you are going and whether your accom has an open bathroom.
