I don't think there is much chance of contracting Malaria in Bali but there were people who came down with Dengue Fever during the last wet season. If I was you I would contact your local Travel Dr as they should be most up to date with what you should be concerned about and how best to prevent it.

We were in Bali in April and we used Tropical Strength Rid (which contains DEET) and bought a can of Mossie Spray there and would spray the room each evening before heading out for dinner. Once our Rid ran out I used Off which can be purchased everywhere in Bali(the Off you buy in Bali/Indonesia contains DEET the one in Australia doesn't). We would apply RID morning before heading out to breakfast, lunchtime and before heading out for dinner, we were travelling with our 2 children and I was a lot more fanatical about applying repellant to the kids this time as it was the end of wet season and my Travel Dr had warned about Dengue Fever. By the way I was the only one bitten by a mossie and I'd forgotten to put repellant on one morning.

Cheers
Sue
