Hi, arrived here at BGH 1a.m. Monday morning. Bali virgin, but well travelled elsewhere worldwide.
Hotel is great in an old colonial way;huge rooms, incredibly comfy beds, pools are fabulous,( although I watched and listened to a family of Aussies gazing intently into the main swimmingpool and turning their noses up saying it was dirty).Well, I have a pool at home and I wish I could keep it as clean as BGH's- kids have been living in it, diving and swimming under water with clear visibility and no red eyes-okay so it isn't the sparkly blue you get with bright blue tiles and bucketloads of chlorine, but it's a fabulous place to be after a long day pounding the pavements! Lovely temp, great service at the bar, just ignore the copious amounts of towels placed on the beds at some unearthly hour, and noone coming to claim them- seen it all over the world. Breakfast is guaranteed to pile on the pounds! Lovely pancakes and great omelettes, good choice of other stuff, definitely no compaints there, so wrap up you picky devils who've complained on the forum! My one complaint is the number of people who insist on smoking everywhere, in and out of the the dining room with no regard for kids or nonsmokers, I guess smoking is still socially acceptable in Aussie, would be nice if inside or outside was smoke free, or even just a small upwind area??.
Look out if travelling Auckland/Bris/Brunei, I had my duty free confiscated at Brisbane, even though it was in a sealed transit bag.
Other than that small hiccup, no complaints from me.
Weather is great. Food's been good, and shopping an eye opener.
Whole family had varying treatments at Dr rudy's and as the ex-wife of a dentist, I was pretty impressed with his service and definitely impressed with the prices.
Having hair extensions done at Melasti tomorrow. Hoping to do Ubud, monkey forest and safari park(is this all possible in one day and can anyone recommend a driver with minibus for 8?)on Friday.
Waterbom scheduled for Saturday, Bali Baik for eary next week and diving/snorkelling/kitesurfing next week if we can fit it in.
Brought a bag of clothes for Smudge to distribute, but have lost contact with him-anyone have a 'phone number-he's not answering his emails.

P.S. Dennisc, I walked every inch of Carrefour and couldn't find raspberry juice anywhere-where is it?
