Regarding the frequency of infection, I've been told it is due to children's ear canals being a lot smaller than adults that the water is more likely to get trapped inside.

Children also spend a lot more time both in the pool and also with their heads underwater playing games.

I don't think the pools are necessrily not looked after properly but the tropical heat warms the water which germs love.

The only year we neglected to use the aqua ear both children ended up with ear infections. But once there is any inflamation at all you can't use aqua ear as the alcohol in the fluid really hurts their ears - time to seek medical assistance if that happens.
