on what medication you take. larium, for some people, has some serious side effects such as depression and mood swings. chloroquine, for some people, can cause sun sensitivity, and if not taken on a full stomach can cause nausea. best tip is to take it in the middle of a meal.
i have had malaria 4 times and cant recommend doing SOMETHING to prevent mosquito bites highly enough.
as a general precaution, as i live in asia, i have my hep, tetanus, cholera and typhoid shots kept up to date.
