Not physically having timed either I would estimate that from the Novotel to the beach would be a 5 minute walk, and from the Novotel to Bali Collections (shopping centre/restaurants) would be about a 10 minute walk. All flat terrain so easy walking.
There is a shuttle bus service linking all the Nusa Dua hotels to Bali Collections anyway so I wouldn't be to concerned about your friend getting around. Taxis are also plentiful and inexpensive.
